Lord Jones was one of the so-called “Goats” brought in from outside politics by Mr Brown last year to create a “Government of all the talents”, along with Admiral Lord West as security minister, Lord Malloch-Brown in the Foreign Office and Professor Ara Darzi to carry out a review of the NHS.
