TORTOLA - A new era in the BVI Olympic Committee began on Wednesday night when Ephraim Penn was elected as the third president in the 28-year history of the organization. Penn defeated John Lewis, 10-2, to succeed founding member Rey O'Neal, who stepped down after being at the helm of the organization for 24 its 28 years.

TORTOLA - One thing we in the British Virgin Islands haven't been very good at is recognizing milestones, the accomplishments of our sportsmen and sportswomen. That's a crying shame! Our athletes put out their best, leave it all on the field of play, but at the end of the year, we don't even know who the BVI sportsman or sportswoman of the year is. No awards!

TORTOLA - Steven Asson ran unchallenged, then propelled himself into select territory during Saturday's fourth race of the Highland Spring College Classic Series on Tortola. Never mind Virgin Gorda champion Maxford Pipe or Rasheed Richards, who won the last race when illness reduced Asson to a mere spectator. It was simply Asson's day.
