Cristiano Ronaldo deserved the Ballon d'Or , or European Footballer of the Year award, after polling 77 of the 96 votes. So Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or as European Footballer of the Year (though, in fact, it's a bit of a misnomer: Any professional in the world is now eligible). And, barring an Act of God, he'll win the FIFA World Player Award as well.

You probably thought that Emmerson Boyce's second yellow card against Newcastle United for a perfectly legitimate tackle on Shloa Ameobi was harsh. And even had a pang of sympathy for Cristiano Ronaldo when his phantom whistle induced show of hands earned him another booking and an early bath against Manchester City.
