I took this photo looking west from South Kostner Avenue near West 53rd Street on Chicago's southwest side. This was the Chicago Transit Authority's Orange line rapid transit to Midway Airport during the construction. These concrete piers were just recently poured. The CTA Orange line opened in 1993.

Woman falls on tracks; Red Line service halted

Red Line service was interrupted for about a half hour Friday morning after a woman fell onto the tracks at the Cermak Station, officials said.The woman fell onto the southbound tracks about 7:50 a.m., said Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Kim Myles. Red Line service to be rerouted this weekend

Red Line subway service between the Fullerton and Cermak- Chinatown Stations will be rerouted in both directions this weekend to elevated tracks, the Chicago Transit Authority said Friday. The re-routing will occur from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday, according to a news release.
