Brandon Phillips won the Gold Glove! Yay! BP might be my favorite Reds player. He was leading, but then Votto and Bruce got called up and the exit polls are too close to call. We are very lucky to have one of the best second basemen (2009 shortstop?) in the league. I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be a very, very good year.

Brandon Phillips is your NL 2B Gold Glove winner for 2008. I give this move three “Yippee!” and two and a half “it’s about time”s. In an effort to make up last year’s slight to the NLC–or an effort to prove that the winners may as well be chosen by a roll of the 16-sided [...]

We already told you about this defensive award. Now Brandon Phillips has won the National League Gold Glove for 2B: “To tell you the truth, when I didn’t win it last year, it really hurt me a little bit,” Phillips said. “Then after that, I was like, ‘If I win one, I win one. If [...]

[Note by Rick House, 11/05/08 5:01 PM EST ] Bumped from diaries. I'm a little surprised Brandon won this popularity contest over ChUtley, but I'll take it. Way to go, Brandon! Just saw on the bottom line that Brandon Phillips won a gold glove. He committed only 7 errors this year in 140 games which was good for a fielding percent of .990 Congrats to Brandon and lets...

Boy, I’ve really been delinquent in linking to this, but better late than never. Everyone’s favorite middle infielder, Brandon Phillips, has been “awarded” the Fielding Bible honor as the best defensive second baseman in the entire major leagues: This one surprised me, but it shouldn’t have. Brandon Phillips finished third in our voting last year [...]

Brandon Phillips is obviously enormously talented. His range, arm and hands make him a great second baseman. But he probably would not have won the Gold Glove if a light had not gone on, prompting him to work on his skills.

We’re going to run a series of these threads during the off-season, starting today with Brandon Phillips. I’d like to get the Nation’s collective wisdom regarding BP. Is Phillips overrated, underrated, or just rated? Which 2Bs are better, and what is his future with the Reds? Tell us what you think about Phillips. I’ll [...]

Things have appeared oddly quiet for the biggest slugger on the free-agent market. That would be Adam Dunn , who may find his value isn't quite what he had hoped (though we have to believe he doesn't actually expect the $100 million ex-Reds teammate Brandon Phillips says he's expecting). The Nationals, who have been in on many big names (including Maryland native Mark Teixeira and Maryland...
