Bob Novak on his illness

I will continue to pray for both Senator Kennedy and Bob Novak and their families. They both have difficult days ahead. Support for me and promises of prayers sent for me poured in from all sides, including political figures who had not been happy with my columns. I'm told that President George W. Bush has not liked my criticism, particularly of his Iraq war policy. But the president is a compassionate...

Learning from Bob Novak's cancer

After events of this week, and given what we all face in the weeks ahead as the campaign rolls out, we could probably all stand to step away from our political arguments and read Bob Novak's column about what he...

Wilsons Insult Cancer Patient Novak

Bob Novak penned this article describing his cancer, the diagnosis, and the outpouring of support from people like Vicki Kennedy and Al Hunt. But this was the reaction from Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson. "We have long argued that responsible adults should take Novak's typewriter away. The time has arrived for them to also take away the keys to his Corvette." I would expect nothing less...

Novak: McCain Comes Through

Normally I haven't much cared for Bob Novak over the years. He's a bit too curmudgeonly for my taste - which is saying a lot because I enjoy being a curmudgeon myself at times. But here Novak streamlines why Sarah Palin was a good choice for McCain to make with short and to-the-point specifics. From Novak's column posted at RealClearPolitics : As recently as two weeks before Palin's...

The sad demise of the Evans-Novak Political Report

As I've written many times, I was a big fan of Bob Novak, the Prince of Darkness. While a partisan, he often engaged in legitimate reporting and often had good info in his columns. Sure, he was also often wrong, but hey, you write about politics enough, you won't bat 1.000, and in Novak's case, he generally got the big things right (not always, but mostly). Most refreshingly, he didn't...

Novak’s Not Feelin’ the “Joe-Mentum”

Nice to see Bob Novak’s feeling well enough to write the occasional column: Reports of strong support within John McCain’s presidential campaign for Independent Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman as the Republican candidate for vice president are not a fairy tale. Influential McCain backers, plus McCain himself, would pick the pro-choice liberal from Connecticut if they thought [...]

Novak Returns...

First, it's good to have Bob Novak back where he belongs. Second, Novak's suggestion -- that McCain all but name Lieberman his secretary of state -- could very well give McCain all the political advantage he would get anyway from naming him vice president.
