Guess what happened 10 years ago today? Bob Stoops was hired to be the football coach at the University of Oklahoma. This is important to the good people at Notre Dame and to Bob McNair and all the other underachieving football programs. If you hire the right coach, you'll be on the road back. It's not complicated. He awakened the sleeping giant that was OU football. If you spend five minutes...

I still say Bob McNair gets it. I think he's every bit as upset about this sorry, no-account football team as you are. I think in his heart of heart he's coming to grips with the notion that Gary Kubiak isn't the right guy. He's just not the type to lose his cool in public. He's not going to tell the world what he's really thinking. He's also going to give this coaching staff every chance to...

Uncle Drayton would fire someone first thing tomorrow morning. He understands the art of making a move that somehow seems more important than it really is. At least, it shifts the conversation. Bob McNair could use some shifting of the conversation. He sat there amid the thousands of empty seats and watch his team quit against an opponent it should have beaten. It's one thing to lose. There...

I wonder if there's a number that would compel Bob McNair to give Gary Kubiak a fourth season. There's almost no question an 8-8 season would do it. How about 6-10? Or 7-9? We don't know what Bob McNair is thinking. He has chosen his words carefully in public. He has supported Kubiak while making it clear he's unhappy with this season. Those of us on the outside looking in can't know...
