NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Allegheny Technologies said Wednesday that its third-quarter earnings fell to $144 million, or $1.45 a share, compared to $194 million, or $1.88 a share, a year ago. Sales rose to $1.39 billion compared to $1.34 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet Research estimated, on average, earnings per share of $1.44 on sales of $1.39 million.
