The U.S. military announced last week that Abu Qaswarah was killed in Mosul along with four others. The U.S. says the Moroccan was the No. 2 leader of al-Qaida in Iraq and that he trained in Afghanistan and recruited foreign fighters.

Abu Qaswarah, who was killed by US forces on OCt. 5, has been identified as Mohamed Moumou, a Swedish citizen. He was a member of Ansar al Islam and was listed a Special Designated Global Terrorist in 2006.
