The British No 1 has moved up from 11th to ninth in the rankings, which were released this morning, after his best performance at a grand slam event. Murray missed almost three months of last season with a wrist injury, including Wimbledon, which means he has no ranking points to defend until September....

One thing that Sunday's Wimbledon final helped highlight was that I can live without a Briton winning the title. Indeed it would have been a tragedy if Andy Murray (the tennis player, not THE Andy Murray) had somehow beaten Nadal in the Quarter Finals.
