Today's Singapore Grand Prix, the first night event in the history of Formula One, bore all the hallmarks of a classic race, with close racing, unpredictable incidents and safety cars within seconds of each other. Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella was running as high as third in the early stages of the race, the highest position a Force India car has run this season.

Force India F1 Team driver Giancarlo Fisichella will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the pitlane as a result of his crashes during the Saturday free practice session and qualifying. The Indian team had to make repairs to the VJM-01 of Fisico which means that they had to remove the car from the Parc Fermé which is why the Italian driver has to start from the pitlane.

The Force India Formula One Team has finished a rain-drenched Italian Grand Prix with Adrian Sutil in 19th position. Giancarlo Fisichella started well after the initial safety car period, battling with Raikkonen and Hamilton for 11th position, until a racing incident on lap 11 damaged his front wing. In the damp conditions Giancarlo slid into the gravel trap and into retirement.
