BlueandOrange.net discusses what might have been had Steve Phillips succeeded in trading Jose Reyes and David Wright so many years ago. John Delcos speaks from eyewitness testimony while supporting Marty Noble’s bombshell that some Mets didn’t mind losing Delcos also sees a missed opportunity with Davey Johnson. I have to agree. Roy Halladay “smells like a [...]

Marty Noble: Glavine Claims Young Mets Weren't Offended By Losing From Marty Noble's profile of Wally Backman: And it's what Tom Glavine saw as far back as June 2007 -- losing was acceptable to some of the young players, they weren't suitably offended by it. Let's take a trip down nightmare lane, to Sept. 30, 2007 and Mr. Glavine's postgame comments following 1/3 IP, 5 H, 7 ER: "I'm not devastated...

Japanese veteran pitcher Hisanori Takahashi has declared himself a free agent and will seek a contract in the MLB. The 34 y/o left hander in 159 starts has a lifetime record of 69 and 60 with an ERA of 3.80. In an interview with NPB Tracker he says he prefers to be a starter. The agency that represents Johan Santana, Jose Reyes and a bevy of other Mets clients over the years has a new player in the...

More photos » by Chris Pizzello - AP Browse more photos » The Mets apparently at least feigned interest in Chone Figgins at the GM meetings, but were concerned were he'd "fit" on the team. While that most likely means Castillo is blocking him at second, it's questionable whether Figgins, a third baseman, fits on the Mets at all. He carries the reputation of being "versatile,"...

Joel Sherman of the NY Post reported today that the Mets are very interested in Chone Figgins. I like Figgins a lot, but he's going to get paid this off-season and two of the reasons are because of his lead-off skills and he's a third baseman, both of which the Mets wouldn't be asking of him. Basically the Mets would not be using his best assets because they have Jose Reyes in the lead-off spot and...

Joel Sherman of the New York Post says, ‘The Mets are absolutely in on Chone Figgins,’ according to the words of an involved party. …like sherman says, having Jose Reyes, figgins and Carlos Beltran at the top of the order would allow for a lot of creative baseball in Citi Field… In the poll at the end [...]

I think that Louis Castillo is getting a raw deal in NY, if you place his stats for a #2 hitter in front of most Mets fans with no name next to them they would take them in a minute. Still Castillo is a player that most fans want to be the first player to be traded this off-season. Let me debunk a few miss-beliefs about Castillo.. Castillo is a lazy fielder who is severely declining. I'm not going...

The Royals have opted to decline Miguel Olivo's 3M club option, the 31 y/o veteran catcher is now a free agent. Olivo hit .249 last year with 23 HRs, for a team in need of power he might become a player of interest to the Mets... Olivo is most remembered by Mets fans for his second to last day of the season altercation with Jose Reyes in 2007 which supposedly served as a rally cry for the Marlins....

David Wright hit .307 with just 10 home runs, 72 RBI and a .390 OBP in 144 games for the Mets in 2009. In the most recent edition of the Bill James Handbook 2010, using an intricate system of statistical analysis, Bill James projects Wright will hit 22 home runs next season, while batting .302, with [...]
