SPURS youngster Jake Livermore discovered yesterday that he has broken his leg, ruling him out for three months, writes Craig Rodhouse. Livermore, 18, joined League One side Crewe on loan earlier in the summer, but will now be sent back to White Hart Lane after fracturing his fibula in a pre-season friendly against [...]

Countdown to The Cat on 87.7 FM

Less than a week to the launch of The Cat on 87.7 FM , with bags of music, local chat, news, sport and interviews. The area needs its own station, with the BBC covering either Stoke or Manchester and a host of other stations dotted around the area but ignoring us. The Cat will be a proper Crewe and Nantwich station. As detailed before on Crewe blog the station goes live next Tuesday 29th July and will...

Follow-up photo of some of the ReAct 08 performers who took part in events at Crewe's Lyceum Theatre the other Saturday. This year the organisation raised money for Hope House and the mayor's charity of choice. Both the Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich, Borough Councillor Brian Silvester, and the Mayoress, Ms Sheila Davies, as well as Mr Edward Timpson MP later attended the event...

Since May...

I've been meaning to get back to posting more regularly for a while, and I notice that back in May, almost 2 months ago, I promised to discuss Crewe & Nantwich. Of course, since that by-election there's been Henley and Howden & Haltemprice. Before the local elections, and even with them, it could be claimed that Labour was just in the middle of a normal 'mid-term blues' patch. The local elections in...

Cheshire really is going east!

Fears that the new Cheshire East power base will see Crewe left in the cold were fuelled this week as council leaders agreed to site the new admin HQ at Sandbach. The purpose-built Congleton Borough Council office will only accommodate around 56 of the 81 recently-elected Cheshire East councillors, but others sites ( inc Crewe's Muni Buildings and Macclesfield ) were deemed unsuitable. It now means...

Crewe FC 1 Rhos Aelwyd 3

There was a familiar face back in Crewe on Saturday. In fact, there were some very familiar looking shirts as well. Whatever, it was great to see some footy of a Saturday afternoon. Back to the story and older Alex fans will recall a talented, tough-tackling midfielder called Steve Walters. He had the tracksuit on but the boots have been hung up as the Crewe lad is now concentrating on management with...

Spot the ball

Busy one today, inc shopping with the kids and Mrs Crewe blog, over to the Sherborne estate for the family fun day, dodging the rain, then a footy fix at Legends where former Alex player Steve Walters arrived with his Welsh side Rhos Aelwyd to play Crewe FC. More snaps on Sunday and Monday, but until then it doesn't get much more exciting than a Spot the Ball competition. Just for fun, but have a guess...

Who says the building trade is dying?

Forget those national headlines about building firms crumbling and the property market crashing. Ok, it's not looking too rosy. However, at least a few schemes are up and running around Crewe. Not really one of those quiz questions - especially if you noticed a big crane on the town centre landscape over the last few days - but where do you reckon this is? Full details to follow...

Win Ocean Colour Scene tickets

Back to the music for a moment. There are some decent bands coming to town over the next couple of weeks, with Hayseed Dixie, Dodgy and Ocean Colour Scene all likely to pull in big crowds at Crewe's M Club . So, with the blog approaching the one quarter of a million visits milestone some time during the next week we thought we'd have a competition. Have a guess at the date and time when we'll click...
