Its a trend that's been going on for some time now. I'm not sure when exactly it started, maybe it began with the Jose Contreras bidding, or maybe its part of the post 2004 paranoia that should have been banished last October. Regardless, I will never understand the fixation that most Yankees fans seem to have on the Boston Red Sox. Whenever we're discussing a potential move for the Yankees, the debate...

The last time the two baseball superpowers tangled over a talented Cuban defector, the Yankees signed Jose Contreras and the Red Sox were left steaming, so angry that GM Theo Epstein supposedly kicked chairs at the Nicaragua hotel where both...

SI.com is reporting that the Detroit Tigers are jumping into the pool of teams interested in signing 21-year-old Cuban pitcher Aroldis Chapman . The words "get in line" come to mind, however, when you look at the list of clubs angling for a chance at the 6'4" kid with the 102 m.p.h. fastball. Of course, the Yankees are interested. (And they invited him to Yankee Stadium to watch Game...

Add the Detroit Tigers to the list of teams in pursuit of Aroldis Chapman, according to a report by Melissa Segura in SI.com. Segura writes that "several industry sources expect Chapman will command more than the $32 million the Yankees paid Cuban right-hander Jose Contreras in 2002." Speaking of the Yankees, Chapman was a guest of the team for Game 6 of the ALCS, writes Jon Heyman. And the...

So this is what I am left with: doomed to follow a baseball team that uses pre-modern techniques for assessing players I am forced to come up with my own alternate reality that I hope will happen. I will list some groups of players that I would look to acquire at each position we need. I admit the plan is not "sexy" but it better positions us for 2011/12 and should improve the club next season....

For the longest time, I thought Bobby Jenks would always be remembered as the guy who saved the 2005 Chicago White Sox. Sure, the South Side championship squad's offense was led by the speedy Scott Podsednik and sluggers such as Paul Konerko, Jermaine Dye and Joe Crede. And its pitching staff was led by Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia, Jose Contreras and Jon Garland. But it was Jenks' presence
