Similar to the 2010 Relievers post from several days ago, this is meant to present a snapshot of who remains on the roster, can we jettison some dead weight, and are there any holes to be filled? The particulars about how many batters the team keeps on the 25-man and how many infielders/outfielders/Teahen-Bloomquist-IF/OF hybrids are kept will have a factor in the final roster (please allow some leeway...

Here's a look at the UZR/150 numbers for 2009. Innings UZR/150 Crisp 412 13.9 Maier 593 2.7 DeJesus 25 -1.4 Freel 32 -2.0 Bloomquist 164 -2.2 Anderson 192 -3.0 I think we can mostly throw out the data for DDJ and Freel, who simply weren't in centerfield enough to generate a meaningful sample. Considering that UZR/150 is a rate stat (what their UZR would be in 150 games) a -1.4 or a -2.0 is basically...

One member of the Detroit Tigers ' coaching staff will not be back next season, but it's not the guy many expected (or hoped) would be gone. First base coach Andy Van Slyke will not be among the five coaches of Jim Leyland 's staff to return in 2010. It was not revealed by the Tigers, however, whether or not Van Slyke was dismissed or chose to leave. When asked to clarify that distinction by Jason...

The standings might say that these are meaningless games, but the Yankees aren’t acting like it. They started to surge last week by taking two of three from the Angels in Anaheim and haven’t let off the accelerator, even after clinching everything. Early last night it looked as if they’d let up a bit, but [...] Post from: River Ave. Blues A New York Yankees blog Yanks walk off to...
