Where else, before you've even got out of bed in the morning can you: discover that the Lib Dems have won a by election in St Austell and Newquay, where Tory PPC Caroline Righton recently smeared Liberal Democrat candidate Stephen Gilbert; give Nadine Dorries some advice on how to tweet pictures from her Blackberry (not in the same league as my friend Sarah ( @soggous ) who recently helped...

I’m sure John Oxenham will be a tremendous asset to Cornwall, and like me, John will always put local people before party politics.

I see that Matt Davies is reporting that Tory PPC for St Austell and Newquay Caroline Righton has issued an unpology . If fails to apologise for the email she sent in response to the Tweet that was reported to her but adapted somewhere along the way from Stephen Gilbert's original. All this while pledging to fight a clean and positive campaign. What I do find strange is that this A-Listista...

It's now nearly two weeks since Caroline Righton, Conservative candidate for St.Austell & Newquay, sent out an email to local residents smearing the Lib Dem candidate for the seat, Stephen Gilbert - as you can read in my original blog post . Below is the actual text of the email she sent out to residents, so you can see it in full for yourself. And still no explanation or apology....

Over a week ago Caroline Righton made a desperate, but untrue smear attack on the Liberal Democrats candidate for the new St. Austell & Newquay seat in Cornwall, Stephen Gilbert. Last Sunday I blogged, " Caroline Righton and Tories in dirty campaign tricks - shame " this is all about a twitter comment from Stephen Gilbert: "was at meeting about regeneration...

On Sunday Stephen blogged about the behaviour of Caroline Righton, the Conservative candidate for St Austell & Newquay, whose campaign is being accused of faking a message about her Liberal Democrat opponent, Stephen Gilbert, in a botched smear attempt. The story has also been taken up on quite a few other Lib Dem blogs so, bearing [...]

Matt Davies has the story about how Tory candidate Caroline Righton looks to have tried to smear her Lib Dem opponent in St Austell & Newquay, Stephen Gilbert, by faking a message. Although the story have been taken up by quite a few other bloggers (including Andrew Reeves, Nich Starling and Lib Dem Voice), I've yet [...]

Lib Dem blogger Matt Davies reports on a clumsy attempt by Tory PPC for St Austell & Newquay, Caroline Righton, to extract political advantage from her Lib Dem opponent, Stephen Gilbert – but, unfortunately, without trying to check her facts first. Ms Righton accused Stephen of calling her a ‘D***h***d!!!’ on Twitter in an email [...]

As a former campaign organiser for the Liberal Democrats in London I worked with some amazing Councillors who really worked hard trying to do their bit to improve their wards, Stephen Gilbert was one of those who I only got to work with for a short while, but he has turned into one of my best friends within the party. The one thing that always struck me with Steve was his love for his...

I've blogged before about my former Fortis Green ward colleague Steve Gilbert's campaign to be the first MP for the new seat of St.Austell & Newquay - which is where he was born, grew up, went to school, lives and works... a lot is often said about local candidates, but they really don't come much more local than that! Well, speaking to Steve this weekend, it seems that the campaign by Caroline...
