The Naming of the Beasts by Mike Carey Published by Orbit and Out Now in Paperback They say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, but if you ask Castor he’ll tell you there’s quite a bit of arrogance and reckless stupidity lining the streets as well. Review: The Naming of the Beasts by Mike Carey (Orbit)

The Naming of the Beasts by Mike Carey Published by Orbit and Out Now in Paperback Felix Castor has made it to book five seemingly in one piece though not after more than a few scrapes along the way. REVIEW | Dead Men's Boots by Mike Carey (Grand Central)

... Mulbridge is to her old tricks trying to pull a snatch and grab with Rafi from his imprisonment. Carey is clearly building to something big with Mulbridge and Rafi that I hope culminates in the next volume. Carey's use of spirits is again impeccably done. In Castor's world all the supernatural elements are spirits of some kind whether they be normal ghosts/poltergeists or werewolves...

Release Date Rage Strikes Again!

I am a frequent sufferer of UKRDR. Unfortunately, my excessive and untreatable bibliophilia (which is troublesome in it's own right) if often exasperated by good authors publishing good books that are not available in the US markets. That doesn't stop British or Canadian book bloggers from talking about them. Mike Carey, Alastair Reynolds, Adam Roberts, Richard Morgan... the list goes...

Medium Hopping

We’re talking about genre hopping, but we also have medium or format hopping. We have authors such as Mike Carey and Dan Abnett writing comics. Jim Butcher wrote a Dresden Files comic. Neil Gaiman is writing screenplays. George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones and Charlaine Harris’ True Blood are connected to HBO. Bill Willingham, a [...]

Obama Talks Job Growth While Killing Good Jobs

During an interview that aired yesterday on Fox News Channel, President Barack Obama told Fox’s Major Garrett that his focus remains on job growth. If he’s honest about wanting to keep Americans working, he should take note of the testimony of Mike Carey, president of the Ohio Coal Association, delivered before the Senate Environment and [...]

Some bedside reading

My partner is laid up in bed with a bad back , and I must say he is getting a bit crotchety with the pain and enforced boredom. What's more, he ran out of books to read. His favourite fiction at the moment is Mike Carey's supernatural noir series of Felix Castor books, about an exorcist-turned-detective set in a version of modern day London thick with ghosts, zombies and sinister plots....

... get both feet down. It should have been an incomplete pass. But after reviewing the tape, referee Mike Carey decided it was a good catch. The whole afternoon was like this. Play-after-play, series-after-series, four quarters in all, this was something far short of NFL football. They played a United Football League game down the road in San Jose on Saturday night. Wonder if this game...

Unwritten #7 Review

- Well, we're only seven issues into Mike Carey's new must-read Vertigo series, and already his lead character Tom Taylor has been through a whirlwind ride that's landed him in a French jail. It's seems customary that the boundaries between the real world and the literary world become thinner with each passing issue, but this time around Tom faces more of a threat from the former than...
