All this week, Miami is celebrating the world of literature with its annual Book Fair. Running from November 8 - 15 and open to the public for a small entrance fee, the fair is already going strong in its 26th year despite a significantly reduced budget , and is celebrating authors big and small. Says the Miami New Times : The afterparties are nil and the fashions are more along the lines...

For some reason I always imagined Psystar differently. The company has been making Hackintoshes - against Apple's wishes - for nigh on a year and their various lawsuits and machinations have given lazy Hackintoshers everywhere the opportunity to buy OS X hardware for a fraction of the cost of a new Mac and, more recently, the ability to Hackintosh almost anything. Well, it turns out this hive of industry...

If the mainstream press accounts are to be believed, Mayor Regalado will be removing the Chief of Police John Timoney and perhaps the City Manager, Pete Hernandez as big indicators of change. But I'm guessing that there are a thousand other details that need thorough reform, including the kinds of no-show jobs for politically influential relatives that Miami New Times disclosed. I'd be interested...

Miami New Times By Kyle Munzenrieder Tue., Oct. 20 2009 @ 12:33PM In a stunning turn around, a new poll from Miami firm Bendixen & Associates shows that a strong majority of Cuban Americans now support open travel to Cuba for all US citizens. 59% support opening travel to all, while only 29% still oppose it. That's a turn around from a 2002 Bendixen poll that showed 47% of Cuban...

... Where’s the justice in that? But I digress… The murder took place on October 16, a few days after Miami’s exciting victory over the Jets on Monday Night Football. Under those circumstances it seems like Lee could have been a little more self-possessed towards his tormentor. You know, just a simple retort of “Scoreboard, bitch” or, if necessary, go upside the head once and be done with it....

Okay, so we're reading this puff piece in the Miami New Times about would-be Mac cloner Psystar , and while we're somewhat willing to dismiss author Tim Elfrintz's various mischaracterizations of the law and what Psystar is actually doing as just laziness and / or ignorance, there's a quote here from Psystar founder Rudy Pedraza that simply leaps off the page: Rudy scoffs at the idea he borrowed...

The Miami New Times News (try saying that out loud ten times in a row really fast) has a long story on the Pedraza brothers, the two men behind Psystar, which is located in Miami. The story details the brothers' youth, and, of course, talks a lot about Psystar and Apple. There is a lot of interesting stuff in there not covered before.

... claims Psystar is selling an inferior product that is affecting its standing in the marketplace. A Miami New Times report looks at the Mac cloner’s business, as well as its founders’ backgrounds, which, apparently, could well be used for a drama. Running the company are the Pedraza brothers, whose drug-dealing father was arrested and imprisoned, while the mother didn’t...
