Japanese money leader Ryo Ishikawa climbed up three places to a personal-best 29th in the latest golf world rankings released Sunday. Yuta Ikeda, who needs to win this week's season-ending Nippon Series JT Cup to beat the 18-year-old Ishikawa in the race for the JGTO tour money title, also edged up the list, moving from 35th up to 33rd.

NEW YORK (Kyodo) A New York design house has put on sale the world's first "urushi" lacquered chess sets, handcrafted in Japan, with prices ranging as high as $123,600. The Fellissimo Design House in midtown Manhattan is displaying two of the world's three Japanese-lacquered chess sets, produced by artisans based on a concept by Alexander Gelman, a New York designer.

Even though a lot of the lists have the same players, you can tell a lot about the different philosophies by some of the exclusions/inclusions. Obviously, Kevin Goldstein values tools and projection a lot more than SF Dugout, who value performance...

KOCHI (Kyodo) Three people were injured Sunday at a golf tournament in Geisei, Kochi Prefecture, when a TV station employee lost control of a loaded golf cart and plowed into the crowd. Golfing star Ryo Ishikawa was playing at the time, but none of the players was injured.
