State aid for schools gets House boost

Deep cuts in state aid to schools stirred action Thursday, as the House voted 74-29 to restore $184 million using federal stimulus money set aside for fiscal year 2011. That would increase state aid to schools by about $115 per pupil more than the new budget signed last week by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
