The Quad takes into account both counting stats in Times on Base , and Total Bases and the rate stats in On Base Percentage , Slugging average . Below is the top 10 overall finishes in MLB over the course of the 2008 season (either American League or national League results). If a player makes it to the top 10 list, its really a great accomplishment. The fact that Albert Pujols made the...

... manager Tony La Russa might not return. And if the team falls into a deeper rut, first baseman Albert Pujols could depart when his contract expires following the 2011 season. La Russa would be a natural for the Reds, where he could reunite with two former Cardinals executives, general manager Walt Jocketty and owner Bob Castellini. After this season, Dusty Baker will have only one...

MLB Trade Rumors (Free subscription) | yesterday
Let's take a look at the latest from Ken Rosenthal. The Dodgers won't go after Adam Dunn until they exhaust their options with Manny Ramirez. Rosenthal likes the Dunn-L.A. match. I think there is an impression that Howard is a young player because he hasn't been on the scene that long. He's the same age as Albert Pujols, however. Albert came up three years earlier than Howard, and played another full season before Howard won the Rookie of the Year. For Albert, a long term contract was a no-brainer, because he would have become a free agent in his...

... If you’re unsure about this, just look at the tree trunks anchoring guys like Alex Rodriguez and Albert Pujols . If at age 18 his legs are already extremely strong, I can’t imagine how much power they’ll be able to generate as his body continues to mature. Once he adds a bit more upper body strength it will only help his power production, especially on pitches that he is fooled on....

It’s first and ten again. Most years New Years just sort of happens. It arrives. Getting out of 2008 felt like we went for it on 4th and 13 deep inside our own territory. We pulled the goalie and went with a sixth attacker. We sent an injured Albert Pujols to pinch hit for our [...] Related posts: A Uniquely American Despotism When I first read Alexis de Tocqueville’s “Democracy in America,”...
