I made the mistake of posting a rather geeky comment about Guido's post about the new ComRes poll . This seems to have rather excited his readers, prompting the following comments in response: "Luke Akehurst will quite happily stab Gordon in the back after he loses the election, just as he did Blair after the Brownites deposed him from power. The man has no conscience, no loyalty except to his...
Luke Akehurst picks up a post by Michael Crick about tonight's Newsnight where Crick has uncovered minutes of a meeting of senior Conservatives expressing concern at the calibre of some of their candidates selected to fight the next election. See the astonishing pdf here , including a remarkable admission on the Tory failure on ethnic minority and women candidates. They can't be referring to...
I'M TAGGING Luke Akehurst and Dave Cole here. * Gordon Brown will not call an election * Lacklustre performances from Labour and the Liberal Democrats in the European Parliamentary elections. * A strong showing from a third party/advocacy group will not frustrate the Conservatives this time around as it will be co-ordinated. * Poor showing in both council and EP elections will raise questions...
Luke Akehurst points to some interesting by-election results. I was particualrly interested in Glyncoch Ward, Rhondda Cynon Taff BC where the Communist Party, although not the winners, managed to force the Tories into last place. Communists 12 votes. Tories 11. Onwards to the inevitable revolution comrades, onwards. (Labour won with over 50% of the vote).
Everybody’s talking about it, but Luke Akehurst is the first we’ve seen who (briefly) blogs about it: Interesting innovation - a site where you can follow all the MPs on Twitter: http://tweetminster.co.uk/
UPDATE: Luke Akehurst is none to impressed with the email I also got from Compass. I wonder whether the email was sent to him inadvertently or Compass was thinking that the condemnation of Akehurst would illicit more donations? Just because you win a presidential election everyone thinks your a political genius. Clearly people have a [...]
... now facing accusations of bullying in his new job with Unite ). Luke (lobbyist for arms dealers) Akehurst. Tim Allan (Alastair Campbell’s deputy when Campbell was paid to lie to the country). And others who, frankly, should really know better if they want to keep their well-earned reputations for being decent and trustworthy people. The thing is, what Draper doesn’t seem to realise is that...
... blog as it’s too EU-oriented anyway. I would imagine there would be some effort to follow Luke Akehurst , Tom Harris , Labour Home and a few dozen more that deal with national issues. Beyond blogging I’ve been doing good business making websites for Labour politicians and I’ve never been asked anything by central office despite my business undercutting Web Creator . When it comes to EU matters...
... fact that it has already been promoted by a number of other Labour leaning bloggers including Luke Akehurst , Jessica Asato on The Progressive, Tom Miller and Simon Collister . The serious message from this is if you have any friends, family or work colleagues in Manchester then please contact them and urge them to vote yes by Thursday.

As picked up by Luke Akehurst , see the Sky clip of the Shadow Cabinet laughing along at the Home Secretary's reply to their questions on the Damien Green affairs, exposing their mock indignation . As posted below , on the issue of public interest, the Conservative line now seems to be that the issues were not of sufficient seriousness to merit a police response, it was purely a disciplinary...
Along with other Hackney councillors who signed an anti-BNP letter in the local paper, I've had this email from one of their nine members in the borough: "Dear Mr Akehurst, my name is Giuseppe De Santis and I'm writing to you in relation to the leaflets delivered by the British National Party in Hackney. Far from being ashamed,I'm a very happy member of this party. Actually I'm the first Italian...
It was revealing that the first instinct of several Labour bloggers was not, as you might have expected, to engage with the issue of Damian Green's arrest. It was to attack my interpretation of it and the Conservative reaction. Yes, Luke Akehurst and Sunder Katwala , I'm talking about you. Luke reckons I have double standards on the basis that I wouldn't have criticised the Thatcher government...
As we alll wait breathless with anticipation for the Pre Budget Report, here’s a little vid reflecting on George Osborne’s problems (via Luke Akehurst). Mind you, I’ve always though of Osborne as more Boy Mulcaster than Boy George.
