As we draw closer to Super Bowl 44, I have to go back and take a look at my 5 bold predictions for 2009 . I actually got better, and I look forward to having an even better next year. So how did I do: 2 out of 5 NOT BAD, considering last year! Chris ‘Beanie’ Wells will win Rookie of the Year . Now my crystal ball is a little hazy, and might be a little OSU biased, so it may just be Offensive...

Our culture and acquired mental models predispose many of us to unhappiness, but things don’t have to be that way. That’s according to Professor Srikumar Rao, the feature guest at the January 28, 2010 Interesting Café, Clickable’s innovators and culture event series. Following a successful career in corporations and then academia, Professor Srikumar Rao eventually pursued [...]...

It is interesting to me that as I look back to my 2009 Super Bowl XLIII predictions , we are in the middle of an unusual winter storm much as we were at this same time last year. The big difference is that we got much more snow than ice, so we haven't seen the massive power outages that we did last year. It probably also helps that most of the power lines and poles are new due to their being replaced...

Accelerating Future - 1.18.10 (Response by Ray Kurzweil to Michael Anissimov) Today, I received an email from Ray Kurzweil responding to my January 5th post titled “Ray Kurzweil’s Failed 2009 Predictions”, where I said that I found a list of seven of his “1999 predictions for 2009″ that I thought were false. Below is the letter in its entirety. I have read the letter...

More photos » Matt York - AP Browse more photos » Before the 2009 season ever began, I made five outrageous predictions . Looking back at them, they turned out to be less outrageous then I originally anticipated. In fact, I'd say I was dead-on for two of the predictions, and not that far out of sight on the rest. Let's take a look. 1. Kurt Warner will miss 1 or more games at one point throughout...

Ray Kurzweil responds to Michael Anissimov and I got a copy of the letter as well. Michael Anissimov's original article I had reviewed the same set of Ray's predictions 7 out of 108 total predictions. I had previously updated the article with the fact that Ray had made more predictions than I covered and there was a fairly comprehensive list of them at wikipedia. Ray's letter does also get into the...

Before I start with any of my actual predictions, let me throw in an overall prediction that the year is going to start off slow for most people, but by the end of the year, we will all be thinking: “Wow, 2010 was a crazy year!” When I say that, keep in mind that 90% of what workplace learning is all about will be basically unchanged this year. It’s mostly going to be the same –...
