In Boston. Miffed residents of a posh condo complex have invited the commanding officer of the USS Constitution over for a glass of wine so he can hear for himself that the frigate’s twice-daily cannon blasts – a tradition dating to 1798 – are “more disruptive to the neighborhood than you might have imagined.” Much better all [...]

Plenty to like about his Chardonnay. The Woodside Valley Estate Margaret River ‘Les Bas’ Chardonnay 2007 was dropped off to me at The Point Albert Park just prior to me resigning, so I am pretty sure that it did not make the cut. If I had stayed on however, it definitely would have been in the Chardonnay column, probably pouring as well. Bone straw to look at, the nose is a wonderful marriage...

After tasting the oh my god good 2007 Kelly Fox Wines Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard, I came home to homemade butternut squash soup, wheat levain and apple, gruyere and walnut salad for dinner. With that Dundee Hills inspiration, what else to try but the 2006 Crowley Chardonnay from the same Maresh Vineyard (pronounced Marsh). Tyson Crowley's a friend, but I'll still recommend his wine because it's that...

http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2009/11/oh_thank_heavens_7-elevens_mak.php Good wine? Well, maybe - but the price is certainly right.... no word if it'll be in the slurpie machine. Dallas-based 7-Eleven's had a few proprietary wines on shelves for some time, among them Sonoma Crest and Thousand Oaks, but today comes word that the convenience store's actually in the private-label business...

Nothing makes our dear friend Karla D. happier than a bottle (magnum preferable) of Veuve Clicquot. This particular 1988 vintage comes encased in a special cellar box created by famed designer Pablo Reinoso. But don't be side-tracked by the pretty container. The blend of Pinot Noir (68%) and Chardonnay (32%) grapes create one helluva delicious drink. Since we are admittedly poor with flowery language,...

I already pcked my ‘house white‘ for 2010, but this is close in quality yet with a big advantage – it’s 60% of the cost. Hmm, next year could be tough! 2008 Louis Jadot, Bourgogne Chardonnay This starts with that faintly sherbet note you often find on wines with less punch from the more marginal [...] 2008 jadot bourgogne chardonnay from Burgundy-Report ...

Sometimes I’m in a more George Thorogood frame of mind, not to say that drinking alone is a healthy habit to form, but there’s a time & a place for everything. My good pal Buddy Weiser... The wife is out of town, the Yankees just won the World Series…screw it, pop something ridiculous. No guilt, all glut. While scavenging the wine fridge, I searched for a bottle that could spin...

Now you can pull off the road, pop into 7-Eleven and grab a chardonnay with stone fruit tones or a plum-like cabernet sauvignon, both of which pair perfectly with Go-Go Taquitos or a 1/4-pound Big Bite. 7-Eleven's new brand of house wines, Yosemite Roads, is cheaper than a 6-pack, too--$3.99 a bottle. The convenience store chain best known for Big Gulps and Slim Jims is following in the footsteps...

Two Buck Chuck better watch its back - it's about to face some stiff competition. On Tuesday, 7-Eleven announced its plans to release value wines in the United States and Japan. 7-Eleven will launch two proprietary California wines - a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon - to roughly 15,000 outlets under the Yosemite Road label. They will each retail for $3.99. The Chardonnay is described as having...

The Napa Valley vintners came to town on the afternoon of the 26th, 43 producers pouring many Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnays – the grapes that made Napa famous. I, for one, wanted to try something different than the usual; I guess I was in an ABC mood (Anything But Chardonnay / Cabernet), so I went on a one man crusade to locate anything other than ‘the usual’ … here’s...
