Short and sweet gripe: Why is it that if I want to buy a bottle of Kendall Jackson chardonnay (a moderately good wine, nothing special) at my local drug store or supermarket I pay $11.00 but that same bottle at a moderately good restaurant, nothing special, say like, oh I don't know, Pei Wei, costs $25.00! And they charge $6.00 a glass.. same with Miller Lite.. At Over the Border it's $3.00 a glass...

You have read about Naked Chardonnay. Fasten your seat belt for a recommendation of a great Chardonnay along with a recipe for mussels. The combination of these two will send you into orbit. Honest!

Water Wheel Memsie Bendigo 2007 Waterwheel has been really producing some fantastic wines lately with great scores from numberous powerhouse wine critics. So I was very interested to try the entry level white which is an interesting blend of Chardonnay[44%], Sauvignon Blanc[32%], Semillon[13%], and Roussane[11%]. Amazing how Australia can produce one bottle that covers such an array [...]

Chardonnay, everyone knows it, everyone has an opinion of it. In fact, it’s the most divisive of all wines. It is so ubiquitous that hordes of people have decided they don’t like white wine after only being exposed to Chardonnay. Yet, it is without question, the world’s greatest white wine, or at least, it can be. To understand Chardonnay, you first need to consider its roots (no pun intended). Chardonnay...

Ready for a final backyard toast to summer? I have explored whites for the past six weeks, looking for the best pinot grigio, riesling and chardonnay, all the while taking the pulse of new wines just arriving on our shelves.

Much has been written about the Famous 1976 Judgment of Paris wine tasting. Two previously unknown California wines, a 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay and a 1973 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, were selected by a prestigious panel of French judges as being the best in the lineup that pitted them against comparable wines from France.

It’s a pleasure to do business with Domaine Laballe. We buy from the Domaine a light, fresh white wine (click either of the first two photos), which has until now been blended from Colombard and Gros Manseng into a vin de pays de Terroirs Landais; we also keep a Chardonnay that is normally only [...]

I've missed a few weeks posting having been in Perth visiting family but I'm back at the computer now so here is Huon Hooke's wine of the week from today's SMH: Atticus Margaret River Chardonnay 2006 A star is born in Margaret River. The 2005 and 2006 chardonnays and several reds from this maker, Chapman Grove Wines, have turned my head recently. This one impressed the most. It is a complex,

Italian white wine from Piemonte with 13% alcohol. TASTING NOTES: Light golden color with aromas and flavors of apples, melon, almond and citrus. Medium-bodied that is reminiscent of a Sauvignon Blanc-Pinot Grigio-Chardonnay with clean flavors and well-defined acidity. SCORE & RECOMMENDATION: 86 PTS And interesting varietal that isn't easily found. Not that vibrant or impressive of a bottle, but a...

Mike Grgich celebrated 50 years of winemaking in the Napa Valley Saturday. Guest of honor at the gathering was George Taber, author of “Judgment of Paris.” Grgich made the chardonnay that bested French wines in the dramatic tasting that put Napa Valley on the map. Lianne Milton Photo Taber, 'Judgment of Paris' author, blasts 'Bottle Shock' for leaving out man who made the winning white wine Wearing...

Shows some restraint, letting the ripe pineapple and grapefruit flavors glide gently over finely tuned acidity, hinting at cream and mineral as the finish hovers for a while. Drink now through 2012. 3,000 cases made.
