It's a grey area, but something that small shops and providers of free wi-fi might want to begin thinking about. What happens if someone comes into your business, and uses your free wi-fi to download copyrighted material? For a pub in the U.K., it's an expensive question, to the tune of $13,000 (£8k). Hotspot provider The Cloud wouldn't give many details, but it said that it believes the case...

So I was reviewing some of old posts and thinking about ways I could make The Beer Buddha a more interesting site. Still not sure how to do that but one thing I noticed was I've been reviewing mostly American beers. I'm sure you've heard me say before that American beers are the best and I truly believe they are but I do enjoy beers from other countries. I don't discriminate when it comes to brew....

Sitting very closely outside the industry looking in, I sometimes want to beat my head against a brick wall repeatedly until I simply don't care about anything any more. Today is one of those days. The pub industry, as we all know, is in crisis - 52 a week closing and all that. And while real ale is heading for growth, the beer market is still well down overall and in seemingly irreversible long term...

Sorry, but this is even less appetising than the idea of beer from coal ! In July 1826, it was reported that At the Deptford Bench of Justices, on Saturday last, James Waterman, a common brewer at that place, was convicted in the penalty of £100 for having unlawfully in his possession the following articles: Vitriol, liquorice, gentian, honey, salt of tartar, and carbonate of soda. The production...

I'm slightly ashamed to realise that the last time I was in Münster's Yorkshire-themed bar, The James, was last February! This week, as my wife and son were away, I took the opportunity to get out into the city to see what new beers Axel had gotten in, if any. Walking in, I was greeted with the gentle hum of chat, and the place was fairly full. Whatever he's doing in there, he's doing it right....

It's new beer & ale offers time in Morrisons so I popped into the local Ormskirk branch yesterday to check them out. Overall the discounts are not great (most can be picked up in other places for similar or cheap prices) & it was funny how they had no stock of the freshly heavily discounted Brains SA... Here are the details: Brains SA £1 instead of £1.67 Greene King Abbot Reserve...

Just writing a feature about the innovation that's happening in cask ale dispense right now, with new hand pumps from Greene King , Bombardier , Black Sheep and others. And I just found out something that absolutely delights me. The invention of the beer engine or handpump is commonly credited to one Joseph Bramah , a hydraulic engineer and locksmith who invented the hydraulic press, a decent toilet,...
