S ometimes when restaurants close for an extended period of time, they never quite recover when they reopen. This is not the case with Shin Chon. Since it reopened after major renovations, it's on its way to becoming the Korean equivalent of the Cheesecake Factory - at least as far as a lengthy wait for a table goes. OK, a slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean.

I've been searching high and low for anything similar to the following two items, but no such luck. I hope you'll be able to get the recipes for Legoland's Apple Fries and The Cheesecake Factory's Chicken Madeira.

I wrote about this first back in September, but a (negative) investment theme I've liked for more than a year now has been the "decline of aspirational everything". To my mind, companies like P.F. Chang's, Cheesecake Factory, Whole Foods and even Starbuck's have grown by charging premium prices to middle-class consumers newly monied by HELOCs and the real estate bubble. That game is (largely) over,...

It’s National Cheesecake Day, after all. No one will ever mistake the Cheesecake Factory for a health-food emporium, but in light of America’s obesity epidemic one would think that discretion would “outweigh” a blatant promotional vehicle. Yeah, right. Check out CF’s high-calorie exploitation here . Buck-and-a-half for your month’s worth of glorp. Discounts, freebies, etc., may work for certain commodities...

Today slices are going for $1.50. Not bad! The caveat is you do have to dine-in to get the discounted dessert. Customers get one cheesecake slice each. It does...
