DineEquity Inc., the parent company of Lenexa-based Applebee's International Inc., reported that the casual dining chain's same-store sales for the second quarter were off 1.7 percent. For the first six months, same-store sales, or sales at locations open at least one year, were down 0.6 percent. Declines at Applebee's came on lower traffic mitigated by higher average checks.
