Pattern: Crocheted Eco-Friendly Carryall Yarn: 2 skeins of Allhemp3 (free from a Purlygirl) Hook: Boye G Notes: Man, I suck at crochet. I thought this would be a one or two day project but it's dragged on for a week eating up all my crafting time. I had a very difficult time with the instructions for the ends of round for the mesh which caused the bag to grow a little wider as I worked on it.

Pattern: Grim Reaper from Creepy Cute Crochet Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash and Lamb's Pride Worsted Hook: Boye E Notes: I worked this guy at a much tighter gauge than the other two from the book. The results are great but the kids don't like that he's smaller than the zombie and vampire. I got Fimo clay for the scythe and asked Wes to make it for me last night. He's much better at stuff like

People keep hitting me with links to this crochet pizza scarf —or to other similar ones. It's not edible, but it's pretty cool. I tried to find a pattern for you but couldn't. If you're a whiz with the crochet hooks, you could probably figure it out and hook one up for yourself or your pizza-loving friend or family member. Yeah, it's a bit warm right now for a scarf, but you need something to do with...

Doilys are possibly one of the most instantly thought-of items when someone says “crochet” (followed by granny squares… *cringe*) . Some doilys are outstanding demonstrations of stitchwork, utilising the slenderest of hooks (0.4mm - anyone got a smaller one?) and anyone who makes them deserves mega-hoots for their skill. However dot dot dot However, this doily is an [...]

On one on my email lists, people have been chatting about how they sort, store and organize their crochet hooks. Here are a few pics of how I store mine, as well as a nifty new gadget that I really like for carting my hooks around with projects: For quite a few years now, I have been [...]

I am officially obsessed with crochet. I was trying to explain it to someone when they asked why the sudden change in craft, and the thing is: it’s different. The placement of the yarn, the movement of the hook, the fabric it creates. It’s not any better or any worse than knitting, it’s just different. [...]

Crafters frequently come up with solutions for problems you never knew you had. Like naked toilet paper rolls. Who knew they needed crocheted covers to keep them warm? But this solution might actually be useful. Click the full sorta-NSFW picture. With just some yarn, stuffing, a hook and some time, you, too, can make your own boobie pillow . Use it to comfort your spouse/lover/pool boy if you're away....
