Back in April 2007 I heralded the 2009 Ford Flex as a sign of life at Ford. By applying cues from the cult-inspiring styling of the Scion xB and MINI Cooper to a much larger three-row vehicle, I predicted that Ford had the magic formula for people seeking a people mover with style. Well, the 2009 [...]
Click here to see the photos Kia bared its Soul at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and that's the last time we're going to make a pun on this car's model name, we swear. The Soul could be seen as a Scion xB rip-off, but we really ... Originally posted at The Car Tech blog

We have no idea how the new Soul will go on the road, or how it will hold up - either materially or financially - but taking a seat in the giant shoe on wheels...

Just how much Hello Kitty can you put on a car? Well from a 2004 Toyota Scion xB that we saw at recent Hot Import Nights show in Pleasanton, a hell of a lot. Everything from the engine block to the wheels in this car was decked out in Hello Kitty memorabilia and colors. Even the tailpipe was fashioned to look like the famous mouthless cat (complete with whiskers!)
Despite the negative purchasing experience, we love, love, love our Scion xB. Gerald keeps coming up with excuses to run errands in it because it’s so much fun to drive. The sound system rocks, we love the XM radio, and it handles really nicely. Fuel economy isn’t fabulous, but it’s much better than the Tribeca. Currently we’re getting 26.5mpg average with almost all city driving. The Tribeca was around...
Watching this political race between Obama and McCain, reminds me of the way in which car companies flood the market with vehicles when they find a certain style starts to capture the dollars of the consuming public. To wit: In 2000, Chrysler introduces the PT Cruiser … In 2004, the Scion XB (aka “The Box”) surfaces … 2005, Honda [...]
Remember my excited post nearly two weeks ago about how we’d ordered our new Scion Xb? I was fully expecting that I’d be posting photos and reviews of it by now, but no. We made the mistake of trusting a car salesman. We’ve done that before, with our Honda salesperson at John Holtz Honda, and weren’t disappointed at all. But Dorschel, which advertises itself with the line “The Dorschel Difference”...
August, 2008 - Torrance, CA - The tC sports coupe, the best-selling vehicle in the Scion lineup, carries over unchanged for the 2009 model year after receiving minor changes last year. The tC Spec Package is discontinued for 2009. The tC remains one of the best values in its segment and has EPA fuel economy estimates of 20 city/27 highway for the manual transmission and 21/29 for the automatic. In...
August, 2008 - Torrance, CA - The Scion xB urban utility vehicle, which received a major model change in 2008, enters the 2009 model year by appealing to young urban trendsetters with its fresh styling and performance. It features a surprising level of refinement and is packaged with an array of standard equipment including a 160-watt maximum output Pioneer audio system with iPod connectivity.
“Hot enough to boil a monkey’s bum!” I don’t exactly what that means, but it was that hot in North Texas the afternoon I picked up my 2008 Scion xB. How appropriate that the old Flying Circus reference should flash through my mind; the xB looks like something out of a twisted Terry Gilliam animation. Now that Graham Chapman resides in an urn, all of the Pythons could fit in the xB, although 6’4” tall...
This Scion xB (which I like to call a “Hong Kong taxicab” for no real reason) sports a sticker in its back window that proclaims “illest.” What caught my eye is the sticker’s font and color scheme. It looks a hell of a lot like the right side of the logo for the Titleist (pronounced “tightlist” [...]
Filed under: Hybrid , Scion click on above image to view high-res gallery of the 2008 Scion xB With Honda's imminent release of a hybrid model rumored to start around $18,500 and therefore undercutting the price of the Toyota Prius, a hybrid model from Toyota's entry-level Scion brand could be in the offing. It would make some sense, considering that Scion's sales spiked when gas prices hit the $4.00...
Filed under: Economy , Scion , Toyota Click above for a high-res gallery of the 2008 Scion xB. My older brother Brian drives a Scion xD. He's 39 years old, and probably considered anything but cool by 18-24 year-old standards. He bought his little xD because he was tired of filling up his AWD 2001 Chevy Astro conversion van, and he's gone from getting 12 mpg to about 30. While that's a big-time win...
