The Times of London has a test of the new Vauhall/Opel Insignia, possibly destined for the US as the 2010 Saturn Aura, and the Mondeo-fighter apparently isn’t living up to the hype. What is the Times’ biggest beef? The beef, apparently, as the Insignia weighs a hefty 3,300 pounds, some ten percent more than the [...]

2009 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer Though the Insignia may become the next Saturn Aura, this handsome variant will likely be left behind in Europe. The wraps officially came off the 2009 Vauxhall Insignia four- and five-door models at last month's British Motor Show in London, but GM's saved this - the 2009 Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer - for October's Paris motor show. Late in the 2008 model year, General Motors slipped a six-speed automatic in the four-cylinder Chevrolet Malibu. Innocuously marketed as the “Spring Edition” and only available as a no-cost option on the top-end LTZ model in exchange for a 3.6-liter V6 hooked up to the same six-speed, it’s unlikely anyone other than those shopping for [...]

Why you should buy the 2008 Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid : You want a hybrid but you do more highway driving than city driving. You need more room than a Prius offers but you don't want to spend the money for an Escape Hybrid. You want an SUV that gets 32 MPG on the highway and you don't really care how it does it. You want a hybrid but you won't pay MSRP. Why you shouldn't buy this car: Spirited...

Exterior Design: **** It may still a straightforward compact SUV, but thanks to the Opelization of Saturn, the 2008 Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid looks far better than its predecessor — with a more refined, European styling direction than its competitors, particularly the block-like Ford Escape. The rubber fits the wheel wells, all the handles feel solid and even the hybrid badges, which use the same...

"That's a hybrid but you can't drive it on all-electric power?" No, you can't. And I got pretty good at explaining why not by the time the sixth person asked. GM bills the Vue as a hybrid, which it is; however, thanks to marketing and hype, most...
