I’ve been to John ‘O’ Groats and back this week. A pointless journey in an apparently marginal car in a stupidly short time frame. As it was for charity no one actually questions your sanity, but they an question your mode of transport. As this was an exclusively motor trade event it was packed with vehicle technicians who spend their entire lives shaking their heads, drawing breath,...

Scénic invented this segment 13 years ago. Launched in June 2009, New Scénic is currently Europe's second best-selling MPV, just 1,200 units behind the leader, with a 14% share of the market. As announced recently, it is expected to regain its leadership position in the compact MPV segment in Western Europe by the end of the year.

On crap cars, again I've noticed, driving between Reading and Weymouth in the Renault Scenic OF DOOM on a weekly basis, that certain makes of car attract certain types of drivers. My study, backed up with actual SCIENCE, reveals one or two things we already know for FACT, plus a surprising conclusion that needs to be reinforced by violence against a certain type of individual so as to maintain my excellent...

The Zafira was first produced in the late 1990s as a rival to the likes of Renault Scenic and to a lesser extent the Chrysler Voyager. The one currently in production features high seating positions and a flexible 7-seat arrangement. Engines are a mixed bag of petrol and diesel while an OPC version makes a productive 177kW (241hp) that's channelled to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission....

Until last week, my view of scrappage was that it was just something that happened to other people. Now I feel like I've been through the whole process by proxy. The reason being the announcement, along with the scheme's extension, that 'V' registered cars are now eligible for the chop. That brought my parent's moth-eaten Renault Megane Scenic into eligability - and that produced in them a previously-unsuspected...

I recently took a fun, online test – one of those things people do when they’re meant to be working – and discovered that I have really bad facial recognition, or, to give it its fancy name, prosopagnosia . Actually, I’ve always known this, but gilding the knowledge with a Greek polysyllable makes it feel much more respectable. Apart from giving me a ready excuse in various...

FORD IS using Frankfurt to launch its new C-Max, bringing the mid-range people carrier into line with the new design direction at the brand. The big news is its optional five-plus-two format, which allows a third row of seats to be added. The C-Max is now a direct rival for the Renault Scenic variants on offer.
