Über Bird! [24 Hours Of Lemons]

Those of you who followed the saga of Mad_Science's LeMons 6 Series know that some difficulties held them back at the Buttonwillow Histrionics over the summer. They've made a few changes since then. Yes, we've long wanted to see a big German car get turned into a Plymouth Super Bird, and now our dream has come true! A little sheet metal, a lot of Bondo, and the number 43 is all you need.

The backstory behind HPP's showstopping Daytona conversion... is a Chevy Camaro next?

Filed under: Aftermarket , SEMA Show , Classics , Coupe , Performance , Dodge HPP Daytona - Click above for high-res image gallery When we saw the HPP Daytona at this year's SEMA show , two things became very apparent. One, we'd really like to drive it. Two, we need better pictures of it. See, the poor thing got itself shoved into a tight booth at SEMA and we just couldn't get too many decent shots....

Yes, you read correctly; up until today, the asking price on eBay for this customized 1988 BMW 6-Series Coupe was a mouth-dropping quarter of a million dollars. Almost as insane as the $950,000 for the pipe-dream Plymouth Road Runner Concept we told you about in a recent posting. However, after a truckload of questions and suggestions but not a...

The concept is being put together by an independent designer Michael Leonhard, who is selling the car once he’s done building it. The 6.1 HEMI turbocharged V8 allows for a total [...]

Why a boat-tail semi isn't as silly as it might sound

Filed under: Truck , Etc. , Technology , Work Sure, a six-foot protrusion sticking off the rear end of any vehicle is kinda funny looking. Unless we're talking about a Porsche 917/30 or a Plymouth Superbird. Those cars have some very fine rear extensions. Okay, fine - a six-foot protrusion looks a little bit weird when growing out of a semi-truck's rear. Happy? But a boat-tailed tractor trailer might...

From Fantasy to Reality: Plymouth Road Runner Concept Based on '09 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Up for Sale on eBay for... $950,000

Get ready for the final race of the 2009 season , taking place in two weeks at chilly Thunderhill Raceway! More cars than ever before, and the most staggeringly wrong collection of vehicles ever seen on the same track. Ah, the Arse Freeze! Who could forget the incredible end-over-end Datsun B210 flip at the 2007 race? Or the upside-down '66 Plymouth Belvedere at last year's race? This year's race...

Commenter Of The Day: Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr Edition [Commenter Of The Day]

Traditional publishing is in a lot of trouble. Why? They just can't get their heads around media consumers. In the good ol' days, no one cared about readers. If you were the only game in town, you were the only place for advertisers to blow their money before blowing cocaine. Then Al Gore invented Teh Internets and messed up the model by giving Joe Average the power to look at LOLcats instead of Maureen...

SEMA Show: HPP Daytona is one big Hot Wheels toy

Yes, it's a new Dodge Challenger wearing a Charger Daytona costume, but updated for today's muscle car aficionados. Under the hood sits a standard 5.7-liter HEMI V8, further proving the point that when it comes to the Daytona/Superbird, it's what's on the outside that counts! Luckily for us, HPP did a pretty decent job on the outside. While we're positive that it's the same dimensions as the mondo-sized...

Ten Vehicles That Don't Belong On BuisnessWeek 's 50 Ugliest Cars List [Ugly Cars]

We've pulled out ten cars that simply have no place on this list. Two-minutes hate ahead. Car: Tata Nano Place on the list: 49 Reason it's BS: The Tata Nano isn't ugly, it's simply space efficient. Curbside Classics: Chrysler’s Deadly Sin #1 – 1976 Plymouth Volare and Dodge Aspen

While the human Seven Deadly Sins – lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride – clearly play a part in any automaker’s fall from grace, Detroit cultivated its own favorite deadly transgressions. Chrysler’s recurring dirty little habit was premature ejection: spurting cars out of the factory door before they were ready. The shoddily built [...]
