I was travelling to the outskirts of Washington D.C. on June 28th, and came across this odd-looking sedan. Luckily I had my girlfriend and a camera handy to take these photos. Yes, what you see here is a white Holden Monaro test vehicle. First off, this is the first time I have seen a test vehicle [...]

The 2008 Pontiac G8 is better than the Holden Monaro-based GTO that came before it. But not much better. It's better looking, but that Aussie-based GTO was no looker, so that's not saying much. It's better handling, but the GTO was blatantly floppy while the G8 is merely tippy. It's got better interior execution than the 21st Century GTO, but it still has "sewn in" rear headrests versus real ones....

Filed under: Garage , Sedans/Saloons , Pontiac Click above for a high-res gallery of the Pontiac G8 First Drive. Here's a question: what builds excitement? For Pontiac, the General's erstwhile "excitement" division, the answer hails from Oz. Not only does Australia already beat the United States to the punch with cars like the Holden Monaro (which arrived stateside years later as the Pontiac GTO), it looks as if they're beginning to edge Americans out electronics as well. Dell's upcoming Inspiron 1525 notebook, still without a firm release date in the U.S., has cropped up on the Australian branch of the company's site for pre-order. As...

Who said that only Americans (e.g. Pontiac and Buick) rebody Holdens? So do the Germans, and in particular Erich Bitter’s homonymous coachbuilding company. Two years after Bitter showed of its latest product, the Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO based CD02 Coupe, the German coachbuilder announced the launch of their latest creation called the Vero. The sports sedan is based on the Holden Statesman (

My apologies to anyone who knows more about Holden Monaro's than I do, but I think that this is a Holden HK Monaro GTS , an Australian car first built in 1968. The bag belongs to my brother-in-law, who's over from Melbourne with my sister, and the decking runs down to the sea at Lytham. An odd combination for a photograph, but I like the end result. captured camera lens focal length aperture shutter...
