Filed under: News Hot off the press, the all-around vehicle safety watchdog, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), has just released their awards for safe cars to 19 passenger cars and 8 SUVs for the 2010 model year. Each year IIHS recognizes vehicles that perform with flying colors when tested for protecting folks in front, rear, side and rollover crashes. This year, IIHS has rolled...

Another sexy rendering, this time of the Lancia Thesis, comes from Theophilus Chin, and Chrysler 300 C or not, a model like this could definitely make an impact on the US market. It’s[...]

By Mike Stone What makes the powerful American muscle car so strong today is the fact you can get them for a fraction of what a luxury car is priced. While some say the world is dominated by the German and Japanese cars, when it comes to muscle cars the US started the trend and has some of the biggest muscle car fans. There are always good American cars, but the problem has been options and keeping...

Filed under: Aftermarket , SEMA Show , Ford The rest of the Ford display - Click above for high-res image gallery SEMA is an interesting show. We go in knowing full well that 60-75% of the cars we'll be walking past and/or covering are just trash. Sorry if this bombshell offends anyone, but your Chrysler 300C doesn't need 26-inch hoops, nor seventy gallons of sparkle orange paint. Or diamonds. But,...

Filed under: Chrysler , Humor Chrysler 5-year business plan... all of it - Click above to view gallery So you're not an automotive journalist and couldn't spend seven hours (!) following along yesterday as Chrysler execs presented their 5-year business plan for the company. What you missed was a bladder-busting 335-slide PowerPoint presentation that we won't soon forget. Fear not, as we've obtained...

A man has filed suit against the 18-year-old who he says struck the vehicle in which he was riding. At the time of the collision, Frank Hoffman claims 18-year-old defendant Shane Asher was driving a 2007 Chrysler 300, which his mother and co-defendant Marion Asher had rented for him after he had been involved in another accident. Hoffman claims he was riding in a 2000 Ford defendant Cory Luitjohan...

We found this photo hidden somewhere between a family portrait of Olivier Francois, head of both Chrysler and Lancia brands, and a picture of the Detroit automaker's nifty new brochures in the presentation slides released by Chrysler at the unveiling of the company's five-year business plan on Wednesday. The slide is titled "Ironically Similar"...

Of all the detailed plans to emerge from the Fiat and Chrysler press conference in Detroit last night, the one that really struck a chord with me was the merging of Chrysler and Lancia. It makes sense, when you think about it. Both are brands with pretensions of grandeur and both have very little impact outside of their home territories. Yet both could easily capitalise by producing cars that have...

Filed under: Chrysler , Dodge , Jeep , Fiat Chrysler LLC has concluded its 7-hour-long marathon presentation of the business plan (read our Live Blog of the event here ) that will see it through the next five years, and what we're left with is a little confusing. It's almost as if the automaker's new executives, amidst apologizing for the company's past and promising to do better in the future, were...

While it was heartening to hear Chrysler's new powertrain chief talk about small and efficient gas and diesel engines this morning, it was far less so to listen and not hear anything about that long-rumored Dodge EV or a line of plug-in hybrids in the 2009-2014 Chrysler product plan that was unwound for us during the day. Under the old, pre-bankruptcy plan, there was to be a Dodge EV in 2010 and a...

Filed under: Convertible , Sedan , Hatchback , Chrysler Much has been made of Chrysler's apparent lack of new products for the 2010 model year. Suffice it to say, while there are big things in store for Chrysler, they will take at least another year to get into production. For instance, while removing the unsightly strakes from the hood of the unloved Sebring sedan and convertible is a nice gesture,...
