Pete, Nicola, Lola and Nell spent three months during summer 2007 travelling around Britain. Now we're home but the travel bug is still there. Join us for the occasional sightseeing plus tips on how to shrink your carbon footprint. I'm guilty of introducing an 4x4 jeep sized-footprint into the house. At least that's what a recent Guardian piece claims here thanks to the arrival of our pup. Much of...

So, the other day, Steve mentioned his ordeal in finding new tires for his 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel (which I will take the credit/blame for forcing him to buy). As it happens, I also have a 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel, and I also need tires for it. As in REALLY need tires for it. We measured our tires, and instead of 31.6" height as they are supposed to be (265/70-17), they're down to 29.6". As in "yeah,...

For a very long time in this country, about 20% of all sales came in the form of trucks. Not what the industry calls "trucks" (i.e., SUVs), but actual pickups. That figure always astonished me; we simply don't have that many contractors, painters and plumbers and there are fewer actual "farmers" living here each day. The only reason for high ..

Below is a typical email that I get from the Country Watch scheme in Hampshire. Although it is difficult to keep up with the car reg plates that are reported this scheme is an important tool against theft and other ilegal activities that are taking place every day. It also brings to attention what those so called gypo's (far to polite a name for those wankers) are up to...... Dear All, Between the...

One of our commenters has a new business in Mississippi doing tours of the state on scooters. He's having opening ceremonies at Fat Mama's tamale place in Natchez, Mississippi, if you can get by there today. Here's the info: He writes: Got all the scooters in town, 16 of them, got the 24' trailer, and got a wonderful deal on a 2006 Ford 4x4 to pull the trailer with, I can start my local tours before...

In successive press conferences this morning, first at 10am at St David's hotel in Cardiff and an hour later 200 miles north at the Thornton Hall spa hotel on the Wirral, the identities of the biggest lottery winners in British history will be revealed. Bankers. I have spelt it with a 'B' in the interests of decency. It is really very simple. These people are whinging about their bonuses. I sympathise with them. How could they possibly manage on their £100k+ salaries if they don't get their usual obscene bonus? I shudder to think of the hardship they would endure. Someone needs to take these pathetic individuals to one side and explain the facts...

You've probably seen the video doing the rounds of the BMW 4x4 attempting to park and destroying a few cars in the process. In this small but perfectly-formed marketing gem, Hyundai respond by giving one of the victims - a customer of theirs - a new car. (Via Mashable .)

A woman who drove her BMW 4x4 over two other cars as she tried to park has seen a video of her escapades become an online hit. Tripta Kaushal had been trying to park her BMW SUV X5 in Toronto when she banged her foot down on the accelerator instead of the break. As the 62-year-old did this her car sped OVER two other parked cars - she then turned around and fled the car park like nothing had happened....
