Hey heads up: PETA is offering to take whatever prison that Obama decides not use for terrorist collecting—Guantánamo, or that maximum security job in Thomson, IL that might be New Guantánamo—and turn it into a “All Living Beings Empathy Center.” It’d be symbolic as shit, right, because the Guantánamo human torture can be sort of [...] People for the...

One of my many collections is theme park maps. I only have three or four but I would someday like to get a lot more. It's kind of fun to look at the hand drawn maps of old parks (or old park layouts) and compare them to the present day. The Theme Park Maps website is LOADED with lots of map scans including many large ones. Link

I photographed this digital live sound video on the afternoon of Sunday, September 27th 2009. We are looking through and over the chain link fence, along the southwest curve of the Kiddieland Amusement Park's Miniature Railroad ride. Sunday, September 27th 2009 was the last day of operation at Chicago's Kiddieland Amusement Park in near northwest suburban Melrose Park Illinois. After 81 years in operation,...

SANFORD — A team of "Internet comedians" recently descended on the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the results are, well, we'll let you decide for yourself. North Carolina-based Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal travel the country making commercials about small businesses that spoof the style of local commercials. The zoo was among thousands nominated to receive a free ad....

No matter how Tommy Barrett's flack tries to spin this article , here's what counts: Republicans in control of the Legislature in 2005 sought to move the Zoo Interchange project ahead by putting $38 million for engineering into the 2005-'07 budget, but Doyle vetoed all but $3 million. He then changed course, first seeking money to start the Zoo project in 2012, then pulling back on the funding when...

PETA and ZooCheck have been campaigning to convince officials at the Edmonton Zoo, deemed Canada's worst zoo for elephants by African elephant biologist Winnie Kiiru, to release its sole pachyderm prisoner, Lucy , to a sanctuary. We've reasoned with zoo officials. We've enlisted support from experts and celebrities . And we've called on caring supporters to write letters pushing for Lucy's retirement....

Last week was a happier time for me. I went to the zoo and saw a grizzly bear take a huge dump. My hair was a shorter, more manageable length. I had more money. But a lot can change over a week. The bear and his discharge is but a memory, my hair has since grown to look too similar to the nest of a large bird, and the city has demanded 100 of my dollars for some bullshit traffic violation they claim...
