July 22, Colombo: Sri Lankan government today disregarded a truce offer by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) during the SAARC conference from July 26th to August 4th saying that the government likes to see a firm commitment on the part of the LTTE.

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's government on Tuesday dismissed a declaration by Tamil Tiger rebels of a brief unilateral ceasefire from July 26, adding there was no let-up of attacks on rebel positions in the north on Tuesday.
