Techno has acquired a reputation somewhere between Eurotrash and Madchester in recent years in the UK, but Ghent's annual I Love Techno festival is proof that neither the music nor the fans are as naff or as addled as either of these connotations unfairly suggest.

Although blogging is somewhat difficult at the moment, I really cannot resist a belated comment on the EU presidency charade, and in particular the Guardian report . It notes that, while the "ideal appointment" has been suggested as "someone who could stop the traffic in Beijing", with the emergence of the Belgian prime minister, Herman Van Rompuy, as frontrunner, "Europe"...

The Tory leadership, we are told is "delighted" at the smooth reception of "Do-nothing" Dave's non-policy on "Europe". Looking at the Politics Home snap poll on the issue, however, it can be seen that support is polarised, following orthodox political groupings. Amazingly, Conservative supporters support, er ... Dave. Labour supporters, er ... don't. Thus, Tim Montgomerie...

The ideal appointment for the EU presidency, it has been suggested, would be "someone who could stop the traffic in Beijing" – the implication being that Tony Blair, whatever else he may represent, at least has enough star wattage to do that. With the waning of Blair's candidacy, however, and the emergence of the Belgian prime minister, Herman Van Rompuy, as frontrunner, Europe may...

Hair blows in the wind After years there is still wind Sadly no hair Now, that might go down in history along with "I have a dream", "We will fight them on the beaches" and the Gettysburg Address. Or it might not. There's plenty more where that came from- the pen of Herman van Rompuy, the Belgian Prime Minister, and apparently now the front-runner to be President of the European...

There’s nothing worse than waking up in a freezing house. I was warm and cozy in my bed today, bundled up and buried in my pillows, but it was cold beyond my bed. When I finally convinced myself to get up, I tucked the purple afghan around me and looked out the window only to see the hovering fog. Between 2004 and 2007, the U.S. textile export have fluctuated, but the market share is expected to grow in the next few years due to the weak value of the U.S. dollar compared to the Euro.
