With little international fanfare the Dominican Republic became the first country in the world last week to amend its constitution to explicitly bar same-sex marriages. While the amendment will have little to no practical effect for the already conservative country (where homosexuals marriages were already prevented by de facto statutes), the precedent set here seems dangerous on at least two levels....
