FLASHBACK FRIDAY . Yep, that's the BIG HAIRED, lipsticky, Graceland Southern Belle herself pictured up above hugging on some Swaziland missionary kids now all grown up. This photo was taken during the two years that I served in Swaziland as a single missionary during the late 1980's as a Southern Baptist Journeyman. I primarily worked with our church's preschool but also taught Sunday School, led the...

Remember the mighty military machine that would strike fear into the hearts of the Cubans and Russians and ANC terrs anywhere in Africa? Remember how organised, highly disciplined and internationally respected our army was? Recall how well it ranked among the best armies in the world? Remember how badly run the ANC camps were, like Camp Quatro for instance? To prove you can take gold and turn it into...

A VIRTUAL TRIP TO SWAZILAND . Thanks to the wonder of the internet, I've gotten to know the Wallace Family . This past summer, the whole bunch of them --- parents and kids --- spent a few weeks leading a short-term team of young women as they ministered among God's precious "least of these" through Adventures in Missions. Take a virtual trip to Swaziland via their video containing some beautiful...

By Mantoe Phakathi MBABANE, Nov 12 (IPS) - It is one of the world's oldest professions, dating so far back that it is even mentioned in the Bible. But in the deeply cultural and religious country of Swaziland, Senator Thuli Msane stirred a hornet's nest when she publicly challenged a new strict bill opposing prostitution. Msane spoke out against arresting sex workers, when she said government should...

5:00 I’m up. I’m pissed that I’m up. I can’t believe that once again, I am up. 6:00 I realize that I have to dress nicely today because I’m taking some students to a special luncheon with the Ambassador to Swaziland. 6:10 Google Maps: Where exactly is Swaziland? 7:00 Ready to go to work. TomTom just announced three new GPS navigation systems for South Africa. These are TomTom Start , TomTom XXL , and TomTom GO 750 . The highest end of the three is TomTom GO 750 which offers hands free calling. The biggest screen however is on TomTom XXL, and the cheapest is TomTom Start. TomTom Start has a 3.5 inch screen and comes with a safety camera database but only thousands of points of interests....

I am grateful to Simon Mann and Mark Thatcher for one thing. They have made it marginally easier to remember the capitals of smaller African countries, a subset of general knowledge of which I am fond but in which I am deficient. There is a better chance now that Malabo will stick in my mind, not least because I know that it is on the island of Bioko, formerly Fernando Po, which is part of the territory...

Zimbabwe's unity government pulled back from the brink last night when Morgan Tsvangirai, the prime minister, called off his boycott of power sharing with president Robert Mugabe. "We have suspended our disengagement from the government with immediate effect," said Tsvangirai after an emergency regional summit in Maputo, Mozambique. But he presented Mugabe with a new ultimatum. "We...

Zimbabwe's rival leaders met with the head of a regional security body Thursday, ahead of an emergency summit aimed at hauling a fragile power-sharing deal out of a three-week impasse. Mozambican leader Armando Guebuza held one-on-one talks with Zimbabwe's veteran President Robert Mugabe and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition leader who joined a unity government in February. After their...

One such plant product is marula oil, which is extracted from the fruit kernels of the marula tree, native to southern Africa.
