I’m somewhat of a browser nerd. I’ve never realised how many web browsers I have installed, and the recent release of Google Chrome only adds to my collection. Why do I, and quite possibly all computer fans in general, have so many browsers? On my Mac alone, I have Camino, Firefox, Safari and Shiira. In a [...]

This is good news for Mac users being pissed off that Google Chrome is Windows only for now. Mike Pinkerton is the main man (and a Google employee, says Venturebeat) behind the excellent non-bloated Gecko-based Camino web browser for OS X. Gecko being the rendering engine used by Firefox as well, while Chrome uses Webkit, [...]

Google’s new browser Chrome is amazing. How amazing? So much so that I’ve booted Microsoft Windows on my iMac two days in a row now after not using it for months. Does Chrome have some bugs and issues? Sure, but in terms of everyday experience I feel like I can safely say it’s the best [...]

What is Google Chrome? Google Chrome is a fresh expression of web browser, they’ve tried to make it quite bare-bones in terms of user interface but the backend is hooked into Mozilla Gecko (the engine behind Firefox, K-Meleon and Camino) and WebKit (the engine behind Apple’s Safari, and Adobe AIR), but with it’s own JavaScript engine [...]

When I wrote the last post, Google Chrome seemed like vaporware, but just as I hit publish, a release time was announced for later that day. Now that I’ve had a chance to have a play with the beta. It’s fast and nimble. In a Camino way. It looks like a Fisher Price browser. Simplicity is good, but the style is very child-like, and it makes me worry about the OS X version*. I thought the tab icons...

When Google Chrome was released, our genuine reaction around the office was something like this: Okay, so the last thing the world needs is yet another browser. Between IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Flock, Konqueror, Epiphany, Camino, Galeon, SeaMonkey, OmniWeb, and, of course, Wii Internet Channel, Web applications developers already have their hands full. However, if you work in IT, you are either...

Most Mac OS X users probably use Safari, Firefox or Opera for their internet browsing. But every now and again it is nice to have a change of browser. Instead of using your regular browser, why not try Camino, Shiira or Sunrise ? 1. Camino Camino is a browser that has been around for quite some time [...]
