I believe my machine is running Libthr. Should I either install 1) Install linux-sun-jdk16 from ports 2) Install Diablo from ports 3) Download Diablo as binary Do these choices make any difference? I need the best performance possible. _______________________________________________ freebsd-java@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-java To unsubscribe, send any...

There is one interesting differnce between Linux and full operating system projects like FreeBSD, the other BSDs and OpenSolaris: Linux historically didn’t have much coordination between kernel and userland. This becomes a problem for instance when udev and the kernel disagree on how to handle something, or on when you end up with a tool trying to use some old kernel interface. It looks tremendously...

Forgive me for bringing up this issue again. I tried searching in the archive, and I could only find discussions from late 2006. Now that FreeBSD 7.0 is out and we have a new scheduler, can someone comment on performance of Java on FreeBSD vs. Linux and others? I tried following the old thread and I believe it was inconclusive rather than that FreeBSD is definitely slower. Yet, there was an argument...
