What happened to one of my favorite shows? Like most fans of Heroes, I don't have an answer. Season 1 was some of the best television I can remember watching in a long time. My TiVo was set for every Monday night. It ranks right up there with Lost: Season 2, The Wire: Season 4, Martin: Season 3 and Manimal: Season 1. Okay, maybe not Manimal.

Since Google purchased YouTube , the wildly popular video sharing site has endured a number of growing pains as it works to reinvent itself into a more commercial-minded portal. One of those pains came to light this week as YouTube announced it’s cutting off API access to at least one maker of set-top boxes tied to televisions. The move comes as YouTube is ramping up its efforts to insert advertising...

It's been quiet around the R3 office these past few days, as Grant is off in Toronto shooting with Mamma Yamma . He just sent the above image back, and I had to share, because it's kind of tripping me out a little. Not sure if it's the technicolour look of it, or the bow tie with the CBC cowichan sweater. The pic btw is from the taping of the New Year's Day Special that will feature musical guests...

Want to watch YouTube on your TV? There are plenty of devices and services that let you do that, with more on the way. But starting next month, at least one gadget is getting its YouTube feed shut down: Syabas, which makes a line of set-top boxes called "Popcorn Hour," says Google's video site has told it to remove YouTube content from its offering beginning December 2.

CrooksandLiars.com is first out of the gate with the full video of Stephen’s appearance on Late Show with David Letterman last night. The interview jumped around quite a bit (and I felt like CBS had the longest commercial breaks ever), but it’s always nice to see Stephen out of character and supporting his various [...]

There are two ways for a device to access YouTube: either through the regular web interface, i.e. Flash, or for cleaner integration, through its back end APIs. As of December, Google is shutting off the tap. UPDATED The news comes from the COO of Syabas, the company that makes the Popcorn Hour set-top box. Up until now they'd had a "loose agreement" with the 'Tube: They could stream video...

It won't affect your PS3, Wii, TiVo, or other licensed YouTube partners, but Google's streaming video service will start blocking API access to TV-connected devices as of Dec. 2. The COO of set-top box maker Popcorn Hour writes that the firm tried to negotiate with YouTube to retain the service, but YouTube/Google seems to be standing firm—just as the site starts to transition to 1080p video...

I was in Target the other day and walked by this Star Trek Blu-ray disk. It was on an end cap. The perfect position for an impulse buy. I've got a Panasonic Blu-ray player that I got as part of the Panasonic Living in HD program, but haven't watched that many movies with it since we are always backed up with TV shows on Tivo. This movie though was so good in the theatre that I wanted to get it to watch...

Watched it on TiVo . . . wasn't feeling well so went home. So, you don't really get the same information as if you are actually there, but here's what I got out of it. A. ROLL CALL And here is one area that watching on TV is difficult as the clerk doesn't repeat if people are here and you can't always hear if they say they are here. It sounded like Gau, Kostelic, Levin, Manning, Matano, Miles,
