Great sound, poor construction, no support - 1 / 10

I got these as a gift and was very pleased. Nothing compares remotely. The sound was incredible. Six months later, the insulation on the wires (where they wrap around your ears) split open. The person who gave them to me has since died of a heart attack. I contacted Shure and they said they would only honor the 2 year warranty if I had the original receipt. Obviously, I had no way to get it. I wrote back and pointed out that since they had not been producing this model it MUST still be covered under warranty. In response, I got a rude note pointing out the fine print in the warranty that says I must prove I purchased them from an "authorized Shure dealer." Look to another manufacturer... Six months use for $150? Not falling for this ever again.
