Image from DeviantArt There were already a few signs hinting that Atari was having some trouble holding on to the Dragon Ball franchise. A couple of years ago, the publisher clashed with FUNimation over the game license. Namco Bandai announced last month that it had secured publishing rights to three new entries in the franchise. Today, Namco [...]

Players from around the world could log in, interact, communicate with one another and both compete and collaborate in various challenges online. Nothing unusual there then. Except this was in daily use back in 1984...

Robert McLaughlin Rob takes a fond look back at the video shop experience... Published on Jun 25, 2009 As a kid of the 1980s and never really liking sport, climbing trees, or going out, for that matter, one of the biggest pleasures in life was the video shop. Shinobi (XBLA, 2009) Rating: 10/10 "Shinobi" is a very imaginative game. It has a distinct 80s touch, with its gritty urban streets, its juxtaposition of ninjas and helicopters, and a fairly "pop" soundtrack. The first boss, a towering hulk who wears samurai armor, makes a cameo in each of the two stages that precede his boss battle. He has a tiny little weak spot on his head,...

Ubisoft has announced that they'll be publishing Heroes Over Europe , the sequel to 2005's Heroes of the Pacific . Heroes Over Europe was originally supposed to be out by now from Atari, but that obviously isn't happening anymore. This is just more proof that Atari seems to be leaving the retail market in favor of the digital market. As for Heroes Over Europe , I actually previewed the game last December....

Forgive us, but we haven't kept up with all our youth trends -- do kids still care about Dragon Ball? Has it become pass ? Did the disastrous live-action movie kill the license forever? We're guessing the answer to that last one is no, considering how hard a fight there's been over the North American publishing rights to games based on the anime series. Now, Gamasutra reports that emerging...
