Most Played Since its release early last year, Shadowrun has been on the receiving end of a lot of flack, and to be honest, it’s mostly deserved. In any game, there is a kind of primary play loop. For example, in an RPG, the primary play loop is probably the combat. 99% of the parts of the game you can actually influence (equipment, treasure hunting, level-up specifics) is geared towards fighting. The other 1% is generally split between very simple story branching and making the girls wear bikinis. These "high level" play loops nest the main...

In an ideal world online gaming would be done by rational, courteous people grouping together for the challenge of the game and the experience of playing with a larger group. There’d be no complaining about team balancing and no hacking programs. It’d simply be skill against skill in a sportingly friendly fashion. Unfortunately it’s not a [...]

"Non-gamers simply don't love games enough to put up with the crap they get online". Shadowrun designer Bill Fulton has staged an attack against Xbox Live idiots, claiming that the abusive behaviour of online games is "dramatically reducing" sales of his game. I have an xbox live account (I was able to retrieve it and install on my xbox360, and can login on the xbox live site with the email address and login), however when I try to login with Shadowrun, it appears to login, then tels me I need to download an update (I can't run without downloading this update) and then says it failed to get the update. 2007 was a great year for gaming, but not a good one for FASA Studios, as their only game Shadowrun failed to impress gamers and critics alike, thanks to the lack of polish and additional content a lot of people hoped would come. This led to the closure of the Microsoft-owned studio later in the [...]
