Today's TV news. As of tomorrow Channel 4 and E4 to resume normal programming - ie endless repeats of Friends. If it wasn't for Jon Ronson, the odd Tony Marchant drama, and the occasional Michael Powell season I'd have given up on Channel 4 completely. More 4, however, is a different matter.

Guardian columnist Charlie Brooker’s E4 zombie thriller Dead Set is to be set in the Big Brother house and be based on a similar reality TV show….like Big Brother with zombies….cool! In the show, the Big Brother house becomes one of the last places where people can shelter from the zombies. According to Broadcast magazine, the contestants [...]

All-female TV sketch shows don't have a great reputation - the problem being, of course, that there have barely ever been any. Most sketch shows are a bit rubbish, and any sub-set has a more than average chance of not being very good. But if a show's USP is that it's all-women, people like to decide it's the women-ness of it that makes it a bit weak in places rather than, say, the fact that sketch...

View image I have issues with Channel 4's schedulers. There are probably more important things to have issues with, like world poverty and global warming and stuff, but hey, I'm a TV reviewer, this is what we do. First, they decided to rid Fraiser of its (perfect) Friday 10pm slot, and move it to a ridiculously late mid-week slot, leading to me missing the final episode, and now they seem to think...

Naturally, I get a lot of enquiries from members of the public eager, having seen the above photo, for my style advice. To save you the trouble of asking, this season's big look is: lots of hair! Corduroy suits! And glasses! Just like last season, in fact, and several seasons before that. Because style never goes out of fashion. Still, for those who can't carry off the corduroy look, there's always...

I've found Reaper to be an easy-to-watch, relatively entertaining show, but one that didn't quite live up to its early promise. But signs were that in this, the season finale, questions would be answered and it would all come together satisfyingly. Did it? Well ... no. See up until now we'd thought that Sam's parents sold the soul of their first born child to the devil in order to cure his father...

There's a rather shocking interview with the scriptwriter William Ivory in this week's Radio Times, in which he describes the genesis of The Invisibles. "The starting premise," he says, "was that it would be about people on the wrong side of 50 trying to get back into the mainstream. And then I thought, 'What if the mainstream isn't mainstream? What if you're trying to get back into the underworld?'"...
