The Night Garden - What the hell is going on ?

I'm watching a lot of kids shows at the minute. Things are NOT like they were when I was a child. Now there's stacks of childrens channels and even a few dedicated to babies! One show is called "The Night Garden" and is just .... mad.. It's on CBeebies and the characters sound like words Jim Davidson would use in his shows. The Ninky Nonk, Igglepiggle, Makka Pakka and the Tombliboos. Hang on a minute.....

Bagrec in the Night Garden

Cbeebies has changed the bedtime hour (the only children's telly we watch routinely with our children, between bathtime and bedtime) - it's goodbye to "The Rubbadubbers" (thank christ) and "64 Zoo Lane" (shame) and hello to In the Night Garden . This is quality- unlike the Rubbishduffers it's aimed squarely at kids like ours, rather than making knowing nudges and winks towards their parents, and is...

Remembering Ken Livingstone On CBeebies

BORIS Johnson, mayor of London, waves the flag in Beijing. And Ken Livingstone, the miserabilist former mayor Boris beat.. Is he bitter? a few thoughts

Staying at Ma's, we have access to cBeebies. Goodness. Is it populated ENTIRELY with failed actors who can only get jobs as children's TV presenters? Are they ALL on some kind of recreational pharmaceuticals that make them unable to communicate in anything quieter than a yell, with vigorous facial mugging? Funeral next Thursday. We are staying down here with Ma and Sister Natalie until then. Thank...

Doctor Who - the hidden arc

Viewers of the RTD produced Doctor Who are aware that each series he has some common theme for loyal viewers: we've had Bad Wolf; we've had Torchwood; we've had Saxon. This year regular viewers have been at a loss. Fortunately for viewers of CBeebies help is at hand.
