Invigorating, well-composed acid-salsa jams capped by stunningly expressive guitar solos to make your heart swell; confounding, cringe-worthy pop-rock collaborations to make your head itch (go on, scratch and wonder . . .). The challenge in sizing up Santana is doing justice to the dualities inherent in the artist. Still, it's an easy call what should be considered first and last.
