'Rosie Live," a one-shot live variety show airing Wednesday on NBC, is Rosie O'Donnell's tribute to that venerable TV genre. That puts us in mind of the 1970s, the last Golden Age of variety shows. The decade had many variety hits ( Flip Wilson, Sonny and Cher, and Donny and Marie), but the genre was so popular that it seemed as if anyone could have a show - as these five attest:
